Found my lost laptop in Mumbai City!

Hello Everyone,

I really wanted to write from long. Thought to share a lot of exciting stuff happening around, however, I felt I thought about a weak writer in me.

"I felt weak writer in me" - I perceived my self to be weak. When I returned to my blog I had to re-read and believe, is this my work?

I just felt so good. I had to talk to myself again; "Too much of multi-tasking or lack of clear goals"

*I do not encourage people to come out of their lockdown status to be brave.  Please stay at home to be brave.

Amidst of coronavirus start in early March when India was within No of 100, I forgot my laptop in Rickshaw. Yeah completely forgetful mind, no alert as I had prayers to attend and I was getting late. While reaching towards the prayer hall I found my near ones walking the route and I had to offer them a seat and in good deeds came this challenge of laptop missing.

Until the next day, I had no clue that my laptop was missing. Suddenly my better half asked me can you lend me a mouse? and I started searching for my laptop bag which was missing at home. I recollected that I never had one while returning from prayers and neither in the prayer hall.

I started crying, lost my confidence already and now it was time to crash out. I did a lot of self-blaming, how careless I could be?  It was difficult to report in the office as I thought I am already performing badly how could I add this on? I managed to call my HR and IT experts, they were kind enough to help me with positive words.

I was guided to report to the Police and get the acknowledgement. However, my better half suggested let's go where you had lost the Laptop, let's try to see if rickshaw driver had left it somewhere or we can locate it through CCTV camera. We made a plan together, read cases where people had found their laptop, their strategies and lots of things on the Internet. We then identified possible areas where rickshaw halted and rickshaw number can be located. We went to possible places for search and finally found a camera where we left the rickshaw last. We tried to get the camera footage and identifying rickshaw number that was our first victory I felt, with that footage we went to the police station to write a report. Police told this is a missing case and we cannot guarantee. We told them how we managed to get the footage, still no positive reply.  In the middle of stressors, I got one hope Mr Gauli detection centre Versova, who told to handover the footage and he will try to find the proof.

Now the challenge was, from the footage we needed clear number plate. We tried video graphics, cybercrime video software, some friend suggested some identify the number plate, but, no hope and no luck. I told myself I have lost it.

We went the next day again to the location where we left the rickshaw to identify other CCTV footages. There were many and had challenges on camera.

Instance: Actual time and CCTV timing did not match,  come with the police "let them come and ask". the rickshaw was too fast in some area. The road is not seen in our camera. etc etc.

We managed to identify and note down a few cameras which can help us or police to find a rickshaw driver. Some people were generous saw my lost face, our efforts and landed us the footage, however, due to the time gaps, it was a hard-luck.

All the above was managed during weekends.  It was time to face the office. I managed to inform my boss about the incident, she was sweet and very cooperative enough to console me and relax me despite her family medical emergency. I went to the office with a home laptop to work. Informed HR and others. They showed my puzzled face as this incident happened for the first time in an office.
My boss was very supportive.  I managed to write to seniors with great courage and positive people around who praised for all the work I had done so far to find the laptop. I did my bit of writing to the management by thinking the following points :

What will happen max if I don't get my laptop (Therapist in me) :
1) I will have to bear my salary loss as I have to pay back. The laptop was office property - worst could happen
2) I will buy one laptop by selling one at my house - a little better as cost difference was manageable
3) This is not the end of the world. It's learning and shouldn't be taken negatively. - Positive thought and feeling which gave me internal energy
4) I have come this far and I am sure I will be able to find it - Positive strokes and gratitude to myself.

Then I got a call from Mr Gauli in the evening who was motivated as I had done a lot of research on this. Believe me, a lot of people told me Police authorities are useless and this was the second point when I started getting help. We meet at the place where I had lost my laptop, where people had disapproved me to show the footage. We went to the area with my long meet friend who agreed to help me to look at all those footages which were clear. After a three-camera struggle, we managed to find one Koli Samaj Seva Mandir where CCTV footage was very clear. We sat through an hour to identify the rickshaw where a police officer was with me.

AHA moment! Finally, after 4 days of struggle found a rickshaw number plate.

Now the challenge had was:
  • What if some other passenger picked up the bag?
  • What if he already sold the laptop?
  • What if the laptop was crushed by throwing it away?
Here Police played the role: Mr Gauli said "don't worry we will manage to find it now.  Go home and sleep today".

Day 5th passed and I didn't get a call from the Police. On day 6th I get a call at 8: 30 am to come to Police station. I was worried as Police told Rickshaw driver has come, didn't mention about the laptop.

It took me an hour and a half as the place was that far from my house, my heartbeats were fast. Finally, I reached the police station and the head officer gives me the news team has worked very hard. The driver almost had left for the village along with the bag and we could manage to find him.

The excitement to hear that and answer to some people who said: "Police will no do anything" is here.

There came by bag where I saw my laptop, charger and diary. I had lost my purse bag and one-plus charger which I ignored.

Such a relief, Such a victory, Confidence booster, Isn't it?

What happened when my thoughts were positive, in five days I had my laptop in my hand in City like Mumbai. I have a lot of people to thank here my better half,  my mother, other family members,  my friends, cybercrime experts, my IT professional at the office, My HR professional at the office, My boss, most important Police and most most most important to myself. 'Yes Myself '. I have got a label of detective,  Gunda in a positive way off course
.
I committed to the Police for any support in my capacity that I can give, I will.

I don't lack career goals,  I am confused, missing is clarity which made me so negative what dialogue's I made to myself was all negative, overthinking and I had forgotten human beings are a most powerful creature of God who can do anything if mental strength is high.

Attaching a small picture of achievement.

While writing this I am in a lockdown state and this is one the activity I spent time on. What a self-insight.
